Bundeena School Camp

Students attended school camp at Bundeena, and were informed about the Aboriginal heritage of the area. Bundeena mean ‘a noise like thunder’, which in turn is said to be derived from the noise the waves make at the beach there.

Students kayaked to and explored Jibbon Beach to view the rocky lava stones, natural fish traps, and Aboriginal rock art. Most of these sightings were explained in depth on signposts. The students discussed and reflected on the importance of maintaining and respecting the land we live on. Other activities that took place during camp involved snorkelling, bushwalking, bike riding, fishing, beach cricket, and a campfire.
