Aboriginal garden opening at Austral Public School

On 12 October 2015, the Aboriginal bush tucker garden at Austral Public School had its official opening. The Austral Aboriginal students, as well as Aunty Carol Brown and Lesley Marks from the Aboriginal Education team, came up with the name ‘Warauwa Wingarau Gunarga’, which translates to ‘meeting and learning place’.

Uncle Brad Bevis, along with his son Aragorn and daughter Michellie, both Austral Public School students, performed a cleansing ceremony at the opening. A deadly day was had by all who attended.
